Wisconsin football team is in need of a new coach
The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to replace Mike Riley, and the school’s athletic director said the school is looking for a new football coach to help the program compete with bigger schools in the Big Ten.
“The goal is to be a leader in the conference,” athletic director Jim Guenther said during a Monday conference call.
“And so the question we’ve got to answer is, ‘How do we become the leader in this conference?’
The answer is we’re going to be looking for someone that’s going to go through our process of trying to be the leader, and I think that will be a very important part of our search.”
Riley has led the Badgers to three Big Ten championship games and three national championships.
He left for Ohio State in 2017 to take over for the fired Bret Bielema, who was fired on Dec. 4.
Wisconsin lost to Michigan in the Rose Bowl in the most recent season, a loss that left the Badger program in its second season.
