Georgia Tech Football is expected to play its first home game of the season against No. 2 Georgia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 17, when the Yellow Jackets travel to Gillette Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets (9-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) are 2-0 against Georgia Tech in conference play and have defeated the Yellow Jacket in five of the last six games.
Georgia Tech’s only loss this season came against Georgia Southern on Sept. 15, when Georgia Tech held the Eagles to just two first downs and 17 yards rushing.
Georgia’s first loss came in a 31-23 victory over Georgia Southern in the season opener.
Tech opened the season with a win over Clemson on Sept, 6.
The Jackets have won eight of their last nine games, including a seven-game winning streak, and boast a 7-0 mark in league play.
Tech has also won 10 of its last 12 games at home.
The Jackets have scored at least 40 points in a game for the first time since their last two seasons in the SEC.
The last time Tech scored 40 points at home was in the 2013 season opener against Clemson.
The 2017 season opener marks Tech’s 20th home game.
Tech plays the winner of this Saturday’s game in Atlanta at 1 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 10 in the AP poll and No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Georgia Tech leads the ACC in scoring offense at 24.5 points per game, and has the league’s best rushing attack at 103.7 yards per game.
The Eagles are ranked second in the ACC with an average of 3.7 sacks per game and sixth in the conference in passing yards per attempt at 5.55.
